Alison C. Baker, LCSW, PMH-C

Alison C. Baker, LCSW, PMH-C is the Clinical Director at the Seleni Institute and an experienced psychotherapist who works with individuals, couples, and families seeking support around life transitions, reproductive and parenting experiences, and mental health challenges including anxiety and depression. She has particular expertise in helping people navigate co-parenting dynamics, trauma, and grief and loss, as well as the relational challenges that often arise during major life transitions and family changes. Her work also includes supporting clients through the emotional complexities of family building, including fertility challenges, pregnancy and postpartum transitions, parenting stress, and reproductive loss.

In addition to her clinical practice, Ms. Baker has worked for many years as an educational consultant, parenting coach, and parenting group facilitator, supporting parents and caregivers through the evolving challenges of raising children and strengthening family relationships.

Ms. Baker received her Master of Social Work from the Columbia University School of Social Work. She later completed the Post-Master's Program at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, where she received advanced training working with couples and families. She also holds the Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International (PSI), reflecting advanced training in reproductive and perinatal mental health. In addition, she has completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

In her work, Ms. Baker tailors her approach to each individual or couple, drawing from systems theory, relational therapeutic approaches, mindfulness practices, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Her approach focuses on strengthening communication, supporting attachment and relational dynamics, and helping clients navigate periods of change, challenge, and growth.
