Free Training for NYC Perinatal Care Providers on July 22, 2015

Learn to screen for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders

Seleni will host a free training for perinatal care providers on July 22, 2015 at Brooklyn's Borough Hall. This is the Seleni Institute's second training in a quarterly series of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders workshops, which began with a tremendously successful training on April 16.

Twenty percent of women will experience a perinatal mood disorder or anxiety disorder (PMAD), so it is essential that health care providers know how to identify these conditions and help women get the care they need. Through these trainings, our goal at Seleni is to demystify PMADs, make screening and treatment referrals accessible and easy, and give providers the skills and tools to help families get to a stronger place.

At our first training in April, providers appreciated the extensive and accessible information provided by Seleni psychotherapist Sarah Best, LMSW. In July she will give the same comprehensive overview – covering symptoms, screening methods, and how and where to refer women for professional help – all in an easy-to-understand, engaging format.

We invite ob-gyns, midwives, pediatricians, doulas, and anyone who works closely with pregnant and postpartum women in New York City to come learn simple and effective ways to help women and families.
